Hi, Conservatives. #LEARN

You people are pissing me off.

I love you, but goddammit.

Bless your hearts; you’re trying hard. And I appreciate your enthusiasm in combating the ghoulish, freedom hating Left in their efforts to undermine our basic right to be armed, but for the love of Ronald Reagan please stop ruining my life by adopting the language of the Left and therefore validating it.

I feel like I’ve done nothing but scream this since fucking Columbine, but THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN “ASSAULT WEAPON”. This is a made up term designed to intimidate people unfamiliar with firearms. Stop fucking saying it. Stop allowing the lunatics who want to make you vulnerable to every creature from thief to tyrant to control the narrative using made up language.

As long as the Left rabidly insists on redebating an issue that’s been settled since the Bill of Rights was written we must engage so that they don’t accomplish their anti-freedom goals. How-fucking-ever. We can at least stop allowing their fear mongering misrepresentations and outright lies. We can stop ceding ground before the debate even begins. We can stop giving them the gift of pretending any of their thoughts or opinions or yappage about “assault weapons” is anything but clownfuckingly insane.

Learn.

  1. If I remember correctly, Columbine happened when the assault weapons ban had already been in effect for several years.

  2. The teens who committed the columbine massacre used rifles (sawed-off if I remember correctly). Regardless of whether or not we want to call the weapons in question assault weapons or not, they are not the only guns that are used in shootings. The Columbine shooting used legally acquired guns (by a “friend” who was old enough) and standard hunting rifles you can buy anywhere. People who intend to commit a mass murder will find the means, illegally or not.

  3. I just had an “assault weapon” conversation with my MIL, that really showed me how deeply that terminology has infected the American mindset.

I agree with you totally, Stevie. We really need to quit using bogus, made-up terminology, and thereby legitimizing it.

  4. If you’re a conservative who uses terms like “assault weapon” when you mean semi-automatic rifle, “clip” when you mean magazine, “high capacity” when you mean standard capacity, or think the purpose of the Second Amendment is to protect our right to hunt ducks, it’s OK to leave the discussion to those of us who really know firearms and the 2nd Amendment and concentrate on other issues with which you’re more familiar. It’s OK, there are plenty of us to carry the banner.
